Beautyberry & Native Plants Book

I finally bought a Beautyberry. The berries really are purple and stay on the branch after the leaves fall off. Birds will eat them, although they are said to be tart. The native version is Callicarpa Americana, native to the Southeastern US. I’m not sure if this is that, but I had to have the purple berries. Now I’ve got to figure out where to plant it.

I found this book in the library the other day while shelving. It seems to be out of print, but the Brooklyn Botanic Garden on-line store has other great books on natives. This book can be found on Amazon, but I’d rather promote BBG. Of course, just ask and I’ll check out the book for you. I’ve shown Callicarpa again - I love it. I think Town and Country in Haddam may still have a few to sell. - Jenny
